This Yankee Barn Homes carriage house has a very unique interior. The homeowners love all things New England Barn, thus chose the interior features for their guesthouse accordingly. From the clever bunk room tucked away in what outwardly appears to be a horse stall, to the wonderful space-saving use of a Murphy bed in the…
The barn home master bath takes on as many styles as their are owners, however, I’ve discovered most will fall into two categories: the prominent use of white, or the use of a color to define the space. In looking back through photos Yankee Barn Homes has taken over the past several years, the use…
This carriage house construction project is quite a sight to behold. Begun this past summer by Yankee Barn Homes, it is now well on it’s way to completion. Please join me in taking a look at it’s evolution thus far, it’s truly quite amazing. The Beacon Carriage House This project, located in Southborough, MA,…
I last covered this barn home in a recent post, A Shingle Style Post and Beam Gets Underway. Since then, interior work on this East Hampton home has begun – with a big interruption from Hurricane Sandy – and the finish work is under way. I thought you might like to see a few construction…
This carriage house goes from components and pieces, to a completely enclosed structure in five days. I’ve purposely left the time stamp on the photos so you may not only watch the progress, but be able to tell how much gets done each day. It’s a fascinating thing to see, in person or by way…
This Yankee Barn home in Minnesota is not only beautiful, it has a great story. Every once in awhile, we have clients who wish to finish their Yankee Barn home themselves. This home belongs to just such a couple, who originally bought their barn home in 1994, then proceeded to finish it themselves. It has…

This month Jeffrey talks about outdoor spaces. You might think Fall is an odd time to discuss this topic, however, if you’re going to take on an outdoor project, fall is actually the best time to do it. Landscapers’ busy summer schedules are winding down a bit, so they are often able to take on…
This barn style home, built by Yankee Barn Homes on Lake Charlevoix, Michigan, is simply stunning. Built with the idea of complimenting it’s surrounding topography, the barn house is both unassuming and eye-catching, all at the same time. On the interior, the homeowners did a wonderful job of blending their love of the Early American…
Many see the term “barn houses” and “post and beam” or “timber frame” and think: log home living. This is actually not the case. Log homes tend to be more rustic with a very large amount of wood exposed on the interior. Post and beam homes expose the timber structure on the interior where and…
