This Yankee Barn Homes carriage house has a very unique interior. The homeowners love all things New England Barn, thus chose the interior features for their guesthouse accordingly. From the clever bunk room tucked away in what outwardly appears to be a horse stall, to the wonderful space-saving use of a Murphy bed in the upper level guest sleeping room, every square foot in this carriage house is designed for fun and comfort in a very “barn board chic” decor style. This carriage house is all about fun – creating it and having it!
Carriage House Barn Board Chic Level One
Exactly what is “Barn Board Chic”? I can only answer this question from my perspective, as I’m the one who created this term, specifically for this house. To me, it a lot of barn-related decor combined with some creative vignettes and a number of unexpected “fun” spaces every time you turn around. Of course, there is actual barn board siding involved, both in the weathered variety and in the use of board-and-batten siding.
- Upon entering, the words fun, rustic, vintage and relaxed are just a few thoughts immediately brought to mind.
- Once you’ve entered the first level of this carriage house, you come upon the horse stall bunk-room. What younger child, or adult, wouldn’t want to sleep here??
- Using what I call barn board chic style, the bunk room is decorated for relaxed comfort.
- Great door and sign on the bath, which is tucked neatly under the stairway.
- Much thought was put into making this space appear rustic, while containing every modern convenience.
Carriage House Barn Board Chic Level Two
- Let’s head up-stairs to see what surprises await. The use of board-and-batten on the interior walls ties the barn look together.
- At the top of the stairs looking down, you see a very creative use of a vintage door; it’s become a decorative mirror! Love the barn light fixture and various vintage “finds” hung on the walls.
- Oh Wow! Standing at the top of the stairs, your eye is taken in several directions at once. There’s fun everywhere, beginning with the bar right in front of you!
- Located at the far end of the upper level, the kitchen has everything one would need, whether hosting a party or over-night guests.
- Just across from the kitchen is what looks like a storage cabinet; but wait a minute…
- …it’s a Murphy bed, complete with a pull curtain for privacy and a wall-mounted TV for your viewing pleasure!
- The living space is both open and inviting.
- There’s plenty of space for everyone!
- Whether hosting a few friends or a barn-full, this YBH carriage house has it covered!
