The other day I had a neighbor stop by our Yankee Barn carriage house to ask about the Yankee Barn Homes build process. It seemed he’d been passing by for some time and got to wondering how our home came into being four years ago. He’d watched as the lot was cleared, the driveway put…
This barn home has been featured once before in Post and Beam Living. However, seeing as I’m currently focusing on homes designed by Jeffery Rosen, Creative Director at Yankee Barn Homes, I felt it well worth another look. This house is the epitome of an unadorned barn style, but don’t be misled by the use…
Not one, but two barn homes are currently under construction by Yankee Barn Homes in The Hamptons. WOW! Just the phrase “The Hamptons” conjures up thoughts of gorgeous homes, expansive stretches of pristine beach, and totally bucolic scenery. Add in the handsome look of two post & beam Yankee Barn Homes, and you’ve got magic.…
I know what you’re thinking, “she wouldn’t be the managing editor and major contributor to Post & Beam Living if she didn’t believe barn homes were the best”, but they really are, and here’s my proof: 1. A Vast Array of Exterior Styles One might think in order to be a barn home, a structure…
Barn homes master baths come in all shapes and sizes. The phrase “master bath” is often misconstrued to mean grandiose and/or large. While some of them may indeed be large, at Yankee Barn Homes, not all of them are large square footage-wise, but all contain exactly what the homeowners require. Take a look through the…
Winter officially arrived last week and in colder areas of the US, that means “let the cold weather activities begin”. The mountains, lakes and plains are covered in snow and open for business. I don’t know what it is about Connecticut and gorgeous scenery, but it’s an undeniable fact; the state certainly has it! If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a great piece of property, no matter where it might be, you’ll be certain to think long and hard about the type of structure that best…
Nestled in the rolling hills of Connecticut is a barn and silo with spectacular views; a bucolic New England scene to be sure. Our for-bearer’s really knew what they were doing when they built these places hundreds of years ago. While all this is true in theory, it’s not the truth for this particular home. Nothing…
It’s been a wild stretch of time since Irene blew through here last weekend but things are finally getting back to normal here at Post & Beam Living. It was lights out and water, water everywhere for a while. But things here are fine now, however, our very close friends and neighbors in Vermont are…
Economic times are rough right now. None of us needs to be reminded of this fact. However, swinging to the extreme of going into “lock-down” and behaving as if it’s the end of the world is not healthy for us or the economy. So, let’s take a look at the middle, as this is often where common ground and reasonableness are found.…
