Barn houses hold great appeal with many people who decide to build a new home. The ability to have exactly what you want, exactly how and where you want it is a wonderful thing, and it’s pretty much unique to a post and beam home. Due to the structural support of the frame, the floor plan may be designed in just about any configuration you choose. Don’t want a wall there? No problem. Need closet space here? Again, no problem. Our latest design from Yankee Barn Homes, The Southold, is an excellent example of these qualities and so much more.
The Southold is Yankee Barn’s latest design in a series of barn houses that are all spectacular (see our recent posts on The Merrimack, The Grantham Lakehouse, and Freedom Hill Farm). Coming in at 3845 square feet, The Southold is a moderately large 4 bedroom, 4 1/2 bath home, with a fantastic open floor plan that also includes nicely sectioned-off private bedroom areas. A large double-sided fireplace ( open to the great room and dining room) and oversize sliding barn doors between the dining and kitchen areas, are also exciting features in this home. We love the catwalk on the second level (called a Bridge on the floor plans), used to bridge the expanse of the great room below.
Currently being built in a seaside community, The Southold is a design which adapts well to many different build-site locations. Because it is part of the YBH Barn Houses series, The Southold may be built as it appears here or with any adjustments to the plan you might require. Yankee Barn Homes is a custom build post and beam company, therefore, each home is built to the exact specifications of the individual client.
