Builders Appreciate the Ease and Speed of Prefabricated Builds by YBH
Michael Hazley, Jr., President of Hazley Builders, has told us why he enjoys building with a prefabricated shell package from YBH. He and his team enjoy the opportunity to build a panelized home because the package comes as a system that goes together well and goes up much faster than a stick build.
While Michael reports he has encountered hesitancy from some regarding a prefabricated home, he does not consider that Yankee Barn Homes falls into the standard prefabricated build definition. Yankee Barns are custom designs in full post and beam, partial post and beam, and minimal timber (determined by the homeowner), that have a prefabricated wall and roof system.
The True Roof™ and True Wall System, developed by Yankee Barn Homes, is unique in its design and functions as as the basis for an extremely energy efficient home. The panels come with a solid polyisocyanurate insulation that gives the house a very tight seal. Michael reports that his electrical and plumbing subcontractors love working with a YBH prefabricated shell because they are simple to work on. Any GC will tell you having this advantage is worth its weight in gold.
The Best Part for Builders
Builders agree that the YBH design process is invaluable because the client comes to them full informed and aware of how a build proceeds. Anything a builder would have to tell potential clients, they already learn from going through the YBH design process.
The one word of advise to potential home owners is to know about the heating systems that work best in these types of homes. Radiant heating in the floors is an excellent choice for homes with big volume vaulted ceilings. It works well in a Yankee Barn home.
