New Barn Home Treehouse on Fawn Meadow
Treehouse on Fawn Meadow is a new Yankee Barn Home inspired by our Springfield barn house. Designed to fit in with the rolling fields and natural surroundings of Northwest Connecticut, the home owner says Treehouse is “sustaining the desired motif of cozy and warm within the reach of nature’s ever changing presence”.
As a part of working within nature, the home’s carbon footprint will be greatly diminished as the house goes off grid. Solar panels will power the heat pump HVAC system that is already in place. Supplemental and/or back up heat will be provided by a sealed gas fireplace.
While the house is considered finished, anyone who’s built a home knows it takes time to fill in items such as landscaping. Current “In Development” projects include using site-sourced rock for a new patio, an outdoor shower, and stone walls.
About The House
Treehouse has a post and beam architecture that allows for creatively designed volumes of space. There are fewer interior partition walls, and plenty of glass. The front door has a sight line that looks straight through the house to Litchfield Hills. Spaces unfold as you walk through the home. The open stairwell, the cupola to the sky, and the 2-plus story windows allow you to experience the outside from within the comfort of the house.
The floor plan is flexible and works to accommodate all stages of life. With a main bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, as well as a first-floor laundry room, the home has all the age-in-place requirements. It is an energy-efficient beauty with multiple-zone systems to allow use of parts, or all, of the house.
Lowering Dependence on Fossil Fuels
Given the times in which we live and the currant price of fossil fuels, Yankee Barn Homes shell packages are an excellent off grid build choice. The True Panel System is remarkable in it’s energy savings capabilities and the tightness of our homes cannot be overstated (Read more).
In the past, the idea of removing ourselves from fossil fuel dependency has been more of a concept than practical application. Now that concept has turned into our daily reality. We have the know how and the technology, including for private residences. The future is now when it comes to carbon emissions and sources of energy. Yankee Barn Homes is proud to be part of lowering dependency on fossil fuels, and doing it in custom home design style. Treehouse on Fawn Meadow is the proof.
