Partial post and beam homes have become a staple at Yankee Barn Homes. Also known as hybrid post and beams, they allow our clients to place a timbered frame where they want it and not where they don’t. The Rosewood is a perfect example. The center of the home (living, dining, kitchen areas) is a full post and beam frame. The two wings on either side of the center section are a partial post and beam configuration.
Everything You Want In a Partial Post and Beam
The single-story partial post and beam home offers everything a family could want on one level. Creatively configured by YBH designers in conjunction with the homeowners, The Rosewood floor plan allows for communal spaces at the center of the home while providing private bedrooms and baths in the two outer wings. The owner’s quarters (larger wing) will house the mud/laundry room, guest lavatory, main entry, and staircase to the lower level. There is also direct access to the two-car garage from this wing. The second wing has two bedrooms with a shared bath.
The full post and beam primary living space has a complete frame with an open floor plan. The homeowner’s global furniture collection will define the “rooms”. The kitchen, dining room and living room will be under a one and one-half story post and beam frame. The entire ceiling will be vaulted. Both wings of the home will be one story high. This is where the partial post and beam structure comes into play (see accompanying renderings). In these two areas, the post and beam will exist for aesthetic value. The structural support will be provided by the YBH True Wall™ and True Roof™ panels. Read more on our panel system.
Note: This home has a full basement plan designed for storage and additional living space. The lower level can include a 4th bedroom with full bath, family room, media room, home office, storage closet and a large utility/storage space.
