Yankee Barn Homes continues the series Instant Room today with a look at refreshing and revitalizing a dining room using the colors of spring. As with our March instant room, A Soothing Bedroom, these boards have been selected and designed by Wendy Bircher. She will be answering questions regarding her thought process and how these designs came about. Post and Beam Living will continue to present Wendy’s concepts in our new Barn Homes Instant Room series over the course of the next few months. Enjoy, and please send us any comments/questions. We love hearing from you!
Barn Homes Instant Rooms: A Dining Room for Spring
YBH – I see you were inspired by The Chesterfield, a house designed for the Jachim-Gallagher family late last year.
WB – Yes, I love this house and since it is spring, a time for rearranging and redecorating, thought it would be fun to do a fantasy dining room based on the colors of the season.
YBH – So what are thoughts for this room?
WB – Here are a few tips: repaint using white; change the window treatments, use sheers or linen; for rugs, use a sea-grass or sisal; accent colors, take your cues from nature.
YBH – Tell me something else about this room?
WB – Bring the outdoors in; I did this by choosing greens and taupe in a leaf pattern as a table runner, grass clothes with texture for the walls, hits of green for accents, white linens for chairs and windows, reclaimed wood for the dining table, and hand-blown glass for added shimmer. This is truly a room that celebrates the colors of spring!
