Post and Beam Foothill Folly
Foothill Folly is a small mountain style home currently under construction. The small home is a post and beam design inspired by our Hartford Carriage House. The floor plan is true to a carriage house plan, therefore the lower level contains a garage with storage space, a small entry, a bonus room including stackable washer/dryer, and a full bathroom. The second floor houses the primary living area. An open floor plan with high ceilings creates a sense of spaciousness within the small footprint. The two bedrooms and full bath complete the layout.
The fireplace location is a unique twist. Small floor plans generate a need for creative space usage. To this end, Foothill’s staircase is designed in a U-shape allowing the interior of the U to be used for the fireplace placement. Tucked neatly into the space, the fireplace becomes a centrally located design element and a major source of heat in the small house.
