Sited on one of the Great Lakes, the homeowners wanted North Point to fit in with its surroundings while simultaneously exhibiting the unique aspects of a custom home. The Yankee Barn Homes design team not only accepted the challenge, they hit this one out of the park.
Post and Beam Beauty
The exterior of North Point focuses on colors suited to the timbered shoreline. Rich gray/brown hues are accented by wood tones in the gable features, garage doors, and back deck. The use of black window trim is a stroke of genius as it creates subtle, yet noticeable contrast. The back of the house is a show unto itself. Walls of windows, a decorative gable feature, two large decks, and a cupola combine for a look that is both understated and showy.
The interior is stunning. From the moment you enter the front door, you are greeted with post and beam beauty. The open floor plan allows a feast for the eyes that culminates in a spectacular view of the lake out the back windows.
The living room opens to the dining area and kitchen beyond. Natural elements like woven shades and wood features compliment the blues and greens used to mimic hues of the water. The pendant lights over the kitchen island mimic ship lanterns. The range hood cover is one of the most unique elements in the kitchen.
The primary bedroom is elegant. The use of a coffered ceiling with timber beams is a unique visual element. It creates the illusion of height while adding a sense of spaciousness. Soothing blues and grays compliment the room. Just off the bedroom is the primary bath. Here the homeowners continue the use of blue and gray accents . The backsplash and shower tile are perfect for a waterfront home. The effect of rippling water is beautiful. Nicely done!
