Our newest small post and beam home has been completed. Nestled in the Eastman Community of Yankee Barn’s hometown of Grantham, NH, Eastman House has all the bells and whistles of a larger home encompassed in a smaller energy-saving footprint. Envisioned and designed by YBH Creative Director, Jeffrey Rosen, Eastman House embodies the Yankee Barn lifestyle in a smaller post and beam home.
We’re excited about Eastman House for two reasons: 1)the house comes in at just over 1800 square feet therefore suits a number of lifestyles including a downsizing family, a couple or a single person; and 2) the house offers everything a larger home affords within a smaller, more efficient foot print.
Small Post and Beam
From the exterior, the Eastman House plan is a quiet, unassuming structure. The house exudes a sense of coziness and comfort. Upon entering the home, you immediately see this is no ordinary cookie-cutter design. The interior of the house is a post and beam barn style structure configured to suit every need and want of the modern-day family. The open floor plan and vaulted ceilings add a sense of the dramatic while allowing natural light to flood the home. This clever architecture design provides a much grander sense of space than the square footage implies.
The first level is composed of an open kitchen, dining room and living room area. Separated by one of the few walls on the first level is the master bedroom and bath. on the kitchen end is a mud room, laundry and a half-bath. The mud room connects to the attached two-car garage.
The second level is a mirror image of the first level bedroom and bath. Yankee Barn homes also includes plans for a finished lower level, which adds two more bedrooms, two full baths, another laundry room and a family room.
