Cove Hollow is a Knock-Out! Designed by YBH Creative Director Jeffrey Rosen as an infill project (placing a new house between two existing homes) in the village of East Hampton, NY, this shingle style home needed to be cohesive to surrounding architecture. At the risk of sounding overly impressed with Jeffrey and ourselves, job well done.
Post and Beam Living spoke with Jeffrey throughout the build process and wrote several articles including this one, as Cove Hollow progressed. We have to admit, the end result is better than anticipated, and we were expecting to be wowed. The floor plan is in keeping with Yankee Barn’s progressive thinking regarding aging-in-place. A bedroom/bath is located on the first floor which may function in multiple capacities until the time it’s needed as a bedroom. The design is well thought out as privacy of this room is complete while remaining in close proximity to other first floor rooms.
Cove Hollow is an excellent example of how far Yankee Barn Homes has come in the field of architectural design. While we remain grounded in beautiful barn homes (see Jeffrey’s Award-Winning Grantham Lakehouse) we are quite diverse in our design build capabilities. Here, the timber frame is used to compliment specified rooms such as the breakfast room and the master bedroom, while other rooms do not use it at all (hybrid post and beam). Because we are a custom build company with expansive architectural design capabilities, you as the homeowner have complete control over how much, or how little, timber will be used and seen. Cove Hollow is living proof.
