At Yankee Barn Homes we often hear the phrase “I thought you only build barn style homes”. The reality couldn’t be farther from the truth; we build in many architectural styles. Quite honestly, YBH builds in whatever style the client envisions. We are a custom-build home, barn and commercial building company. As such, Yankee Barn is pretty much unlimited in what we design and build.
Given our name, it’s completely understandable people might think we only build barn style homes. Yankee Barn was founded by a contractor whose wife conceived the idea of building barn houses. She was an equestrian who loved the post and beam style of a barn. But that was forty-six years ago; a lot has changed since then.
While firmly rooted in our barn architecture history (see our Grantham Lakehouse), Yankee Barn Homes has grown into a company that builds in many styles. Here’s how we’re able to do it: The YBH trademarked True Panel system allows our designs to be as flexible as that of any custom-build method, while adding the advantage of a post and beam frame. Additionally, there may be as much or as little post and beam frame as desired. We can build a full timber frame structure or a hybrid, placing the post and beam timbers only where you want them. You envision it; we can design and build it, in any architectural style with the exact floor plan you desire!
