Over the next four weeks I plan to explore one of Yankee Barn Homes’ most popular barn house designs, The Gathering House. The original design for this house was created more than 10 years ago and since that time, this plan has been used more than any other of our house plans. This is not to mean these homes are cookie cutter copies of one another; each client makes the plan their own with changes here and there. As a matter of fact, had I not pointed it out and only displayed photos without telling you all the homes were from the same basic floor plan, I doubt many would have figured it out – I know I never would! In this post I will focus on the exteriors of three homes which used The Gathering House floor plans as their starting point.

The Gathering Barn House Floor Plans
In order to have a reference point when viewing the photos of the three interpretations of this barn house, I will begin each post with the floor plans for the original design. When presenting photos of the three homes, I’ll point out where individual clients have made the plans their own through interior and/or exterior changes. I think many of the changes will be noticeable, even without me pointing them out. You quickly notice with the exteriors, the choice of materials and colors used make a huge difference in the appearance of the barn house.
Three Exterior Interpretations Of This Barn House
From here on out, I will delineate between the three homes by referring to them as The Original, The Arts & Crafts Influence and The Contemporary. Here are front and back exterior elevations of each:

Please check back next week when I’ll take a look at the great room areas of these three stunning barn homes!
