The barn home nook is one of those spaces which may not be immediately recognizable on a set of floor plans. But once you’ve completed your build and are physically standing in your new post and beam home, you realize there are a number of architecturally appealing areas that have almost unlimited potential for creating a timber frame vignette, a.k.a. the creative barn home nook. It’s been a pleasure to see the way many Yankee Barn homeowners create these spaces and what purpose they assign their nook. A nook immediately takes a house space from run-of-the-mill to exceptional, due to the spectacular post and beam frame as backdrop. Have look at some of my favorites. 
Creative Interpretations of The Barn Home Nook
It was fun for me to go through photos our photo library, specifically looking for the barn home nook space. I was pleasantly surprised to find just about every Yankee Barn home had one. I also discovered these nooks come in all shapes and sizes and definitely display the requirements and style of the homeowners. What a FUN project this has been.
- This was one of my favorites; a children’s play area in an upper level loft space. What a great idea!
- An upper level private space off a “cat walk” of a Yankee Barn post and beam.
- Not all nooks I found were on the second level of the home. This cozy corner is created through use of wall paneling.
- A contemporary take on the cozy nook. We call it Yankee Modern!
- Some serious “Sunday Paper” time could be spent here.
- The late day sun, a good book and a beverage of choice (mine would be tea) would work nicely here!
- How much fun would this loft space be, for young and old, alike?
