The new barn home dining room actually has nothing to do with the fact the room is new; we all know dining rooms have been around for ages. What is new are the options available to new-build homeowners. Here at Yankee Barn Homes, we’ve seen just about every configuration you might imagine, from separate, formal dining rooms to totally integrated and casual eat-in areas within the confines of the kitchen; and just about everything between. So let’s take a peak at what today’s dining room looks like according to some of our most recent clients. I think you’ll agree, the only rules for a dining room these days are the ones you require!
The Formal Barn Home Dining Room
These rooms are separated from the kitchen area, either by totally enclosed walls, but more often by walls with windows, sliding barn doors, large fireplaces; that sort of thing. However, they are usually located just off the kitchen for reasons of convenience. The one thing all these formal dining room homes have in common is a bar stool counter space area within the kitchen for less formal and/or quick meal consumption.
The Integrated Barn Home Dining Room
The integrated dining room spaces are just as varied as the formal dining rooms. The needs of their family is what is on each homeowner’s mind as they plan out the space and flow of the most-used room/space in their new barn home. Therefore, what you’ll see in the following pictures is how each client worked out a design which met their needs best.
