This Yankee Barn cottage on Lake Champlain is pretty near perfect. The body of the house is not all that large, yet the building has space for everything you’d need in a lakeside cottage. The best feature is the fantastic wrap around screened-in porch that faces the lake. Used by day as a place to have a meal or laze away the day, by night it can become the perfect way to attain the outdoor porch sleeping experience without leaving the master bedroom!
Yankee Barn Cottage Exterior
There is not a side to this cottage that isn’t appealing, however, between the vast views of Lake Champlain and the versatile screened-in porch, the side facing the lake wins the “Wow” factor award. Best Porch Feature: the 1stfloor master bedroom has sliding doors that open onto the porch, thus allowing for the experience of sleeping out of doors while never leaving the comfort of your bed!
Yankee Barn Cottage Interior
The interior of the cottages is just right. Done with nods to older summer camps through the use of siding choices and a field stone fireplace, the cottage definitely provides every modern comfort one would expect in a lake house; all while not getting overly concerned with itself. That is to say, while there are the latest appliances and a very attractive décor, you know these things are not of primary import when the owners come through the door. This cottage is about relaxing and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the work-a-day world. Well done!
