After partnering with Yankee Barn Homes on their first custom home, this family returned to create Inverdruie. The initial concept was a retreat designed for gathering, entertaining, and taking in the surrounding views. Now completed with expansive living spaces and seamless indoor-outdoor connections, every detail reflects a home designed around the way they wanted to live.

Built using a custom Yankee Barn Homes shell package, Inverdruie was fabricated in our New Hampshire controlled workshop environment — the same process the family already trusted from their first build. Panelized walls, roof components, and the post-and-beam structure are crafted off-site, then delivered and assembled once the foundation is ready, minimizing weather delays and reducing on-site waste.

Designed Differently the Second Time Around

Having already been through the custom design process once, the homeowners came to Inverdruie with a clear understanding of how they wanted their second home to function.

At the heart of the home, a two-story Great Room rises beneath exposed post-and-beam framing. Tall windows carry natural light through both levels and frame the surrounding Vermont landscape, while a second-story landing overlooks the space below.
The kitchen, dining area, and family room flow together and open directly to a large deck, creating an easy connection between indoor and outdoor gathering spaces.

The floor plan also gives the family flexibility across generations, with primary suites on both levels. The first-floor primary bedroom opens to its own private sunroom, while the second-floor suite includes a dedicated sitting room. Two additional bedrooms, a loft, and the open-to-below landing complete the second floor.

One of the home’s most distinctive spaces is an indoor spool — a plunge-pool-and-spa combination — positioned beneath a wall of windows overlooking the mountains and pond.

Personal details make the home unmistakably theirs. The homeowners filled the interiors with a curated collection of original art, including a large hand-painted trout mural spanning the wall above the kitchen pass-through. Visible from the Great Room, catwalk, and kitchen, it brings a playful, personal element to the home’s open architecture and exposed timber.

Finished by the homeowners themselves, the interiors balance light, texture, and warmth — shaped by a family who knew what they wanted the second time around.
