Prefab Home Styles
There is a misconception that prefab homes are boxy in style with a post modern appearance. That may have been true in the 1960s. Today, prefab builds are crafted in any architectural style, or combination of styles, a homeowner desires.
A major point of confusion is the web. If you type “prefab architecture” into your web browser you will likely see photos of contemporary builds. As the saying goes “Don’t believe everything you see on the web.”
The interesting thing is the very same web will produce this definition of a prefab build: “a prefabricated building, informally a prefab, is a building that is manufactured and constructed using prefabrication. It consists of factory-made components or units that are transported and assembled on-site to form the complete building.” Nowhere in this definition is the stipulation the appearance of the build needs to be modern or contemporary.

At Yankee Barn Homes, we prefabricate the “shell” or structural innards of a home. How that home appears is entirely up to you, therefore, a prefab home at YBH can be any style you like.
The YBH Design Team meets with you, either in person or via Zoom, to determine your floor plan and your new home’s exterior appearance. Our team has over 150 years combined experience in designing floor plans and exterior architectural styles. If you dream it, they can create it. We also work in conjunction with architects whenever the homeowner wishes us to do so. The banner photo is Summer Wind, a YBH collaboration with Nuzzi Architects.
