Kerri Post just walked down the hall at Yankee Barn Homes with stain all over her hands. No joke. The stain was so thick, she couldn’t get the fingerprint ID to work on her phone. She was trying to show us photos of a project she’d been working on for a client. You read that correctly, the YBH Design Manager was out in the shop, wearing a silk blouse, working on a custom stain color for a client. Why? Because that’s the kind of person Kerri is. She goes above and beyond with every project.
Meet Kerri Post, YBH Director of Project Management
YBH: Tell Us A Bit about Yourself
Kerri: I’m a designer at heart but have an architectural engineering degree. I started out by creating manufacturing design for clients such as IBM, but have now specialized in residential design for the last 20 years. Wanderlust is in my blood, I enjoy way too much coffee, and am happy spring is finally here in NH for kayaking and hiking!
YBH: What Is Your Role At YBH?
Kerri: I work with clients in designing and building their home. A “project manager” of sorts, I help conceive and develop the design with our in-house team, then identify costs and production schedule while leading people through the process. In short, it’s my job to design the home while staying on time and budget!
YBH: When Designing, Where Do You Draw Inspiration?
Kerri: Typically, it’s the setting where the home is being built and the spirit of the family or couple. I like to understand how the clients will live in the home, what specific needs they have, and marry those determinations to the site and surroundings. It’s important to me the home suits the site and the needs of the client.
YBH: We’ve Heard About Your Sketches. Would You Show Us A Few?
Kerri: Sure. Part of what I do is sketch what I’m hearing from clients. I love to design. Ideas are constantly popping into my head. Getting them down on paper brings me pleasure.
YBH: What Do You Want People To Know About What You Do At YBH?
Kerri: I enjoy working at Yankee Barn Homes due to the personal experience with the clients. Yankee Barn Homes is not a mass manufacturer of cookie cutter homes. Each house design is for a specific client(s) and their lifestyle. I work closely with them, whether or not they have an architect. The client experience is important to me. When we are building a custom home, we are engaging with a family in something incredibly personal and special. I consider it a privilege to be involved!
