Age In Place Barn Home Design

Age in Place Floor Plans

As the baby-boom generation progresses to the retirement-age generation, lifestyles in the United States are undergoing a dramatic shift. Currently one in eight Americans fall into this category with an anticipated rise to one in five within the next 15 years. Exploring long-term care options includes an age in place choice, now incorporating a new industry of elder care specialists unlike any we’ve seen to date.

Yankee Barn Homes is building more often for clients planning to age in place. The common denominator for this demographic: clients who are planning ahead and making proactive decisions about how they intend to live as they age. There’s a trend toward smaller, more efficient homes with a first level room designated as a master bedroom (with bath) designed to support reduced mobility. However, you’d be hard pressed to recognize these spaces as anything other than gorgeous when designed by YBH. Additionally, smaller doesn’t necessarily mean tiny. For Yankee Barn clients it means downsizing. Each family’s requirements are unique, therefore the space and layout required is designed accordingly. YBH is a custom-build company. We design to each client’s individual needs and specifications.
