Building a new Yankee Barn Home may seem like a daunting task. We’ve laid out the process in a 10-step infographic in order to help understand how you’ll move through your build project. The timeline will vary based on each client’s individual situation; however, the 10 step process remains the same.
1. Find Your Land
You’ve found the perfect spot for your Yankee Barn Home and are ready to get started.
2. Financing Your Yankee Barn Home
Find a lending source, getting pre-approved and learning their steps of the construction loan process is important to do prior to starting the design process.
3. Research
Our Yankee Barn Homes customer representatives will help you research options by discussing your specific goals, including estimated timeline, typical construction costs and design wants and needs.
4. Planning Session
During this information planning session with a Design Manager we’ll discuss your project goals, walk you through the build process and help with a design concept perfect for you.
5. Designing Your Yankee Barn Home
With your signed Design Agreement and design deposit (credited back at production) your unique Yankee Barn Home comes to life with our In-house Design staff. We’ll walk you through your virtual home using 3-D modeling and provide architectural drawings (floor plans and elevations), a package quote, a project checklist, permitting steps, and a project timeline.
6. Builder
We can recommend a builder or you may choose your own. Working as a team, we’ll meet with your builder to assess overall construction costs and building process.
7. Construction Drawing
A 20% deposit and signed production agreement locks in your pricing, provides you a tentative production date, and a full set of construction drawings engineered to your site – including foundation and framing.
8. Permitting
With your construction drawings in hand, the permitting process can begin. Keeping permits complete and timely helps get your project started right and keeps it moving smoothly.
9. Yankee Barn Home Production
30 – 60 days prior to your production date and additional 30% deposit is made and your Yankee Barn Home is manufactured. We’ll send you photos and videos or you may visit the factory while it’s being constructed!
10. Construction
Construction begins – site work, foundation, delivery of the YBH package, and shell erection with YBH supervisor or optional YBH crew. The average Yankee Barn Homes is weather-tight in two weeks, ready for the finish crew to take over!
