The barn home great room is probably the most photographed room in a post and beam home. With good reason, as it is often the best room for showing off the beautiful timber frame and the overall style of both the home and it’s owners. At Yankee Barn Homes, we have seen quite a wide variety when it comes to great rooms (family rooms). Some have vaulted ceilings, some don’t; some are very spacious vertically, some are more horizontally oriented. All are lovely to look at, as they are often the focal point of the interior of the home. Here is just a small sampling of the many rooms we’ve helped home owners design over the years.
The Vaulted Ceiling Barn Home Great Room
Here are some of my favorite examples of a Yankee Barn Homes great room with vaulted ceilings. I love the way each homeowner has made these rooms reflect themselves and their lifestyle.
From the mountains to the shore – East Hampton, to be exact. This great room is both a bit shabby chic and sophisticated. The use of off whites and blues complete the seaside feel.
The Single Story Barn Home Great Room
The single level great room is also an extremely popular option with Yankee Barn Homes’ clients. These rooms afford all the comfort and space of their vaulted-ceiling cousins, while also allowing for usable space on the second level overhead. It’s a Win-Win floor plan!
