It may be waning elsewhere, but at YBH the Farmhouse style remains highly popular. Much like the barn house, a YBH farmhouse is more about a lifestyle than a singular look or feature. However, a large front porch remains a must have for clients building in the farmhouse style.
Mountain Lodge Style
Because Yankee Barn is primarily a post and beam build company, the mountain lodge style home is a natural fit for a timbered frame with vaulted ceilings.
Many clients build in this style as it naturally appeals to their level of comfort and lifestyle.
Whether it is ocean frontage or lakeside, Yankee Barn is designing and building waterfront homes in high numbers.
The styles and designs are as individual as the client.
Homes range from ultra-modern to classic shingle style, and everything between.
No matter the style of a Yankee Barn home, the one room that always takes center stage during design is the kitchen.
Even in our smaller house plans, the kitchen is the room where clients will not compromise on what they want – space.
Space for more than one cook in the kitchen, space to move around easily, and space for storage.
Both younger and older clients are looking for flex space.
Space that can be a home office, exercise area, craft room, etc., while doubling as a guest room or other space.
Dual purpose is mandatory – the space needs to provide more than one role.
Admittedly not as flashy as designing the style of the home or the look of a kitchen, but storage space is a must-have for everyone.
No matter how beautiful, a house without enough storage is like a gorgeous coat that doesn’t fit. You will never be comfortable in it!
