Mountain Lake Lodge is a new waterfront home design currently under construction in New England. Intended to mimic mountain lodges of the past, the home emphasizes an exposed post and beam frame with vaulted ceilings, stone fireplaces and large, open communal spaces. At 5,743 square feet, the six bedroom, six bath (plus two half baths), two laundry rooms design is intended to accommodate a large extended family. The floor plan includes a hobby/craft room, a mud room and plenty of storage space. The communal areas include an open kitchen/dining/living room, as well as a screen porch (with stone fireplace), upper level loft-style sitting area and decks overlooking the water. Private spaces include the afore mentioned bedrooms with plenty of closet space, the hobby room, an office and secluded guest sitting area. The two primary bedrooms on the upper level each have a private deck. The lower level will provide a mechanical room, storage, and more family room space. This home has been designed to accommodate both family time and alone time. Who among us doesn’t appreciate that?
Designing and building the shells for large homes is something Yankee Barn Homes is accustom to doing. However, an interesting shift is occurring in our demographic. As post and beam panelized homes are known to be a great product and extremely well-built, our demographic has been one of the older home owner, building a forever home they’ve dreamt about for years. While this remains true today, YBH is also seeing a younger demographic make it’s presence known among our home owners. The 40 and young 50-somethings are currently holding forth as a top age group for YBH clients. This makes sense as people are planning for the future at a younger age, and many families are designing their new home for multi-generations to live under one, albeit large, roof.
Mountain Lake Lodge is an excellent plan that provides for a number of people to live under one roof while maintaining a sense of private space. This is one huge plus larger homes bring to the table; enough room for different age groups to live both cohesively and separately. Larger home designs are the flip side of the smaller age-in-place homes now so popular (for good reason). Large homes present a viable option, as Mountain Lake Lodge demonstrates. Large floor plans with more than one primary bedroom suite with space for more than one generation, are becoming more and more popular with those choosing to build a new home.
We are hoping to get more photos as this home progresses. Please check back and/or visit our website to download floor plans and find out more about Mountain Lake Lodge. DOWNLOAD FLOOR PLANS
