Every now and then a project comes along that causes us to stop and take notice. The Roost is just such a project. It’s not a grand home, it’s not even an actual home. The Roost is a cabin, a guest cabin to be exact. But this plan is perfect for a small home, a weekend get-away, or a lakeside cottage.
Settle In at The Roost
The Roost is part of a family homestead known as Turkeyfoot Farm. The owners are active outdoors enthusiasts who often entertain family and friends. They needed a place for people to stay that would be both homey and practical, hence the bump out mudroom/laundry area at the back of the cabin. The cabin is small at 1,123 square feet but is laid out to accommodate two bedrooms (one up, one down) a full bath on the main level, and an open kitchen/dining/living area complete with a field stone fireplace.
Currently under construction, the Roost is now in the finishing stage. We have received several construction photos. They have made us very eager to to see the finished product. The owner has told us he thinks the project will be closing in on completion within several weeks. Stay tuned as he has kindly offered to send more photographs. Post and Beam Living will be sure to put them up as soon as they arrive.
