Yankee Barn Homes’ latest design, The Bailey Island Cottage, reinterprets the romance of the summer camps from the 1920’s, updated for today’s lifestyle. From the get-go, the front porch speaks the language of cottage and says “Welcome”. Natural cedar siding stained a pale gray, white windows and trim, and a cedar shingle roof with stone chimney poking through complete the cottage image.

The Bailey Island Cottage Front Elevation from Yankee Barn

Open the front door and experience the Yankee Barn lifestyle. Step in to the great room/common room area and you are surrounded by a traditional YBH 1 ½ story post and beam with all its drama. Note the over-sized fireplace anchoring the space. Rear facing windows and doors lead to an expansive view of Casco Bay.

The open kitchen is open to the great room/common space yet allows for complete utility and function. These Yankee Barn customers love this kitchen, as they will prep and cook meals while remaining part of the activity. Beyond the kitchen are the practical rooms; pantry, mudroom, laundry and powder.

Off the great room is the first floor master with study, which functions as the primary master bedroom suite or converts to accommodate the needs of Next Gen living.

Second floor bedrooms work as individual guestrooms that may be zoned-off for efficiency when the homeowners are home alone. If the first floor bedroom becomes a Next Gen space, these rooms can easily convert to a master suite.
