Over the next few months Yankee Barn Homes will take you on a road trip. We’ll be visiting one state a month, showcasing the newest Yankee Barns in each.
Welcome to New Hampshire: We begin the tour in our home state of New Hampshire. As one might imagine, we build quite a few homes here. We’ve had some beauties over the last few years. Let’s have a look.
Victoria Point
We start today’s tour with Victoria Point, a modern farmhouse that combines post and beam and non-timbered areas to create a partial post and beam home. Inspired by our Springfield Barn Home, Victoria Point’s owner toured the Springfield and developed a clear picture of what he wanted to keep and sought to change in the design. He flipped the first level floor plan and moved the laundry area to the lower level to create a door directly off the kitchen. The second level combines the two bedrooms from the Springfield into one large primary bedroom suite. The loft is an office space for the busy professional home owner.

Hayfield
Next up on the YBH road trip is the Hayfield. This home is a thoroughly contemporary barn style home, recently featured in NH Home Magazine. Both homeowners have careers in the art world and the home reflects their taste (relaxed sophistication) and their lifestyle.
The home itself is a work of art, created by the owners as a place unique to them and filled with the things they love. The staircase is custom-crafted, the catwalk creates a perfect extension of the staircase, and the oversize windows allow natural light to flood the house. All are splendid examples of this partial post and beam contemporary home.

Perch Pond
Rounding our our tour through New Hampshire is a smaller, but no less impressive, Yankee Barn home. Perch Pond is the down-size dream home of a lovely couple who cherish living in the mountains. Located footsteps away from a clearwater pond, the owners wanted a home that reflected their casual lifestyle.
As anyone who has ever built or lived in a small home, good design is imperative as every available space needs to be useable. Designing Perch Pond with the knowledgeable YBH Team made the home a success in small home design. The floor plan is perfect for two people. An open living area encompasses living, dining and kitchen space. The living room has French doors that open onto a deck. Just beyond the kitchen and abutting the deck is a mud room that also houses a laundry area and half-bath. Behind the kitchen wall is the main bedroom and a stairwell that goes up to loft space (a flex room that is both a guest bedroom and yoga space for the homeowners) and a down staircase leading to the lower level. The lower level has more storage space and includes another room for use as a bedroom/office flex-room.
