YBH Builds Both Our Own Custom Designs and Architect Designs
Yankee Barn Homes is able to custom design your home from the ground up or we are happy to collaborate with you and your architect. When YBH works with your architect, you have the added benefit of assistance from your architect in a number of areas. These can include help with code compliance and jurisdiction approvals as well as materials and finish selections. Architects will also assist in the selection of a site location and the positioning of the build.
YBH Design Team Responsibilities
When working with an architect, the YBH Design Team takes on the role of liaison between your architect and our engineering staff. The design team assists in the translation of your architect’s design and floor plans into a Yankee Barn Homes shell package. Throughout this process, you and your architect are included in all applicable communications and meetings. The team will meet with you by phone and via real-time communications such as video conferencing.
Once the shell package design is ready, your design goes through the regular YBH production process. Your shell package is put on the production schedule and, once on the shop floor, will usually be ready to ship within a few weeks*.
*NOTE: With pandemic-related supply chain issues, times may vary depending on availability of materials. We do everything possible to order ahead of time, but we are unable to predict when certain materials may be delayed.
Recent YBH Architect Collaboration Builds
Over the years, Yankee Barn has worked with architects quite a few times.
Recently we have collaborated on several gorgeous mountain and ocean cottage homes:
Buell Barn is a contemporary barn-style Hampton’s build, designed by Southampton architect James McChesney.
Catskill Lodge, design by MAF Architects, is a stunning mountain lodge ski house for an outdoor-loving family.
Northwest Harbor is a classic shingle style Hampton’s cottage with a shot of post and beam barn on the interior. Christian Ricci Architecture
Summer Wind is an ocean-front “cottage” in the vernacular of the 19th Century (with all the modern perks inside). Nuzzi Architects
