Wow! That was fast. The last time we spoke with the Winslow Farmhouse owners, the shell package was just being delivered. Fast forward three weeks and the shells for the farmhouse, the carriage house, and the studio are up! The roof shingles and siding should be finished by the time this article publishes.
Amazing YBH Build Crew
For three structures to go up and be enclosed in three weeks time is nothing short of amazing. This is where we get to sing our own praises as the Yankee Barn Homes’ Build Crew put up this shell. With every build, YBH home owners have the option to build with a crew they hire or hire the YBH Build Crew. Winslow’s owners went with the YBH Crew and could not have been happier. Here’s a recent note from the owners:
“Here are some pictures from our last two weeks with the amazing YBH crew! These guys were so easy and helpful to work with, it was bitter sweet to see them go. It felt like our house–or the project–was graduating on to the next important milestone. This next phase is so exciting, “dressing” the house in its roof and siding and then finishing out the inside. Our crew is busily working away at it now. We will forever be deeply grateful to YBH for the huge part you all played in this endeavor.”
Panelized Construction
A Yankee Barn structure goes up quickly as the wall and roof panels have been built in our environment-controlled factory. The post and beam frame has also been pre-cut and is ready to assemble when it arrives on the build site. Windows are installed in the panels during production at the factory, though some specialty windows are installed on site as fit and placement are easier done there. Most shells are up and enclosed within two weeks. This build took a bit longer as it was three structures – a house, an attached carriage house, and a free-standing studio.
Your Crew or Ours
As stated earlier, Yankee Barn Homes has the option for each home owner to use our YBH Crew or their own crew to put up the YBH shell package. Either way, Yankee Barn always send a YBH Supervisor to oversee the shell package build. The advantage of the YBH Crew is they have put up countless numbers of Yankee Barn Homes and know the product, inside and out. However, we have had plenty of homes put up by independent contractors, and to a one they have told us the package is a pleasure to put up and work within. They love that interior walls are left un-sheet rocked so electrical, plumbing, and heating/cooling ducts are able to be run without issue.
A Farmhouse and a Wedding
This is where we unabashedly admit we are excited about this build. Home owner, Jonathan is a well-known painter. He did artwork on build-remnants for each crew member. How cool is that? If you’ve followed this story you may also recall Jonathan proposed the the other home owner, Leyea, on this build site (by the pond). We are not only excited to see the build progress but also excited at the prospect of a wedding possibly taking place on this gorgeous property. We’ve been told we will be kept in the loop and we CANNOT wait.
