Modern architecture is not an a style one might associate with a company named Yankee Barn Homes. However, YBH is a panelized home building company that has grown exponentially since its inception. Once thought of as a barn home building company, 50 years later Yankee Barn Homes is a technology and green-build driven company creating panelized full, partial, and minimal timber frame homes. We design in many architectural styles, constructing homes of all shapes and sizes, building to regulations across the continental U.S. and Canada.
Modern Home Architecture Defines Block Island House
Block Island House is the latest example of Yankee Barn’s design flexibility. Used as a secondary home, Block Island House employs an up-side-down floor plan. Designed by homeowner Jeffrey Milstein, the home is as unique as its designer. Located on the second floor, primary living spaces and the master bedroom take full advantage of water views. Guest bedrooms are located on the first level.
Prominent features of modern architecture include open interior floor plans with fewer walls and exterior building materials of glass and steel. Lines of modern architecture are straight and angled rather than curved, gabled and carved. Use of white is prevalent on the interior. Loud pops of color create visual contrast.
Block Island House is 1,594 square feet, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It is an ideal design for those wanting a modern home using a small footprint. Download floor plans.
