Post and beam single story living affords advantages you might not expect. Truth is, gone are the days of the plain and boring box-style houses. Today you’ll find lofted ceilings, open kitchen, dining and living areas, flexible rooms, extended outdoor living spaces and exterior features displaying various architectural styles. Nowhere is this more true than with one of our more recent designs, Granite Ridge. Yankee Barn has taken all of the afore mentioned attributes and rolled them into one attractive 2733 square foot post and beam floor plan.
Designed to sit on a sloping lot in northern New England, Granite Ridge offers extensive interior views of stunning post and beam architecture. Vaulted ceilings highlight the open concept floor plan, conveying a sense of spaciousness the to rooms. The floating wall between formal and informal dining areas furthers this sense of openness. Private areas, like the master bedroom and office, are well away from the communal spaces of the home.
In keeping with today’s lifestyle the Granite Ridge plan has the option for a lower level, thus providing added living space potential. Our clients need room for visiting family and friends; basements are the ideal solution, particularly with single story homes. Three bedrooms, 2 baths, a family/game room, workshop, mechanical room and plenty of storage are made possible by utilizing the lower level. As this plan is built into the side a a hill, there is a walk-out basement allowing natural light to add dimension to the interior while affording direct access to the outside.
This post and beam Yankee Barn is currently under construction. We will check in on Granite Ridge periodically and update progress whenever possible. Stay tuned for more on this wonderful single story post and beam design.
