Yankee Barn Controller, Grace Kemp, is a busy person. As you’ll see in this piece, Grace has many responsibilities at Yankee Barn Homes and, I can attest, she handles them seamlessly. We recently sat down with Grace to find out a bit more about her. Here she is in her own words.
YBH: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Grace: I grew up in New Jersey and currently live in Newbury, NH with my husband and 2 Labrador Retrievers. We have been in Newbury for 17 years. I love to walk my dogs and work outside in the garden. I also enjoy crafting with friends and family.
YBH: What drew you to YBH?
Grace: I love post and beam homes and heard Yankee Barn Homes was a wonderful place to work. I have now been here over 2 years and during this time have learned everyone at YBH works as a team. The staff is supportive and the houses are beautiful; Laurel Hollow is my favorite!
YBH: Explain your job process.
Grace: My job as Controller for YBH is to oversee the operations of the accounting/ administrative department. This includes periodic financial reports, payroll, and yearly budgets. I am also responsible for making sure policies and procedures are in place, invoicing customers, ensuring vendors are paid in a timely manner, and meeting and greeting our clients when they visit YBH. It is also my responsibility to make sure we provide the staff with a safe working environment.
YBH: What’s on Your Calendar at YBH?
Grace: Currently, I’m tending our vendors in order to keep production on schedule while researching purchase / finance of new equipment. We are very busy and this is a wonderful thing. I thoroughly enjoy coming to work every day!
