Age in place is a top priority with many clients building with Yankee Barn Homes. While clients want a lovely home that serves many purposes, the one feature we see requested time and again is the ability for the home to accommodate the age in place process. Our latest design, The Cooperstown, is a 3030 sq ft farmhouse style post and beam does just this, and more.
Inspired by our Clove Hill Farmhouse design, The Cooperstown takes the farmhouse style to the next level by accommodating a master suite on the first floor. Intended to allow the couple to stay in their “forever home”, the house is designed around the needs of an active couple with plenty of space for friends and family visits. One of the more unique features is the fenced in Kitchen Garden accessed by way of the sun-room. This shows great thought and planning by the couple and the YBH staff. No detail is too small; if it’s important to you, it’s important to us!If I didn’t know better, I’d swear this couple read my latest build/design article on Storage Wars and Closet Capers as they have incorporated built-in shelves and storage drawers into the design of both second level bedrooms. No space is wasted in this home, or any Yankee Barn Home. The design staff helps you make the most of every space available.
The Cooperstown Farmhouse is scheduled to be built later his year. We expect to see construction photos coming in to us by fall. Stay tuned as we show this age in place design transition from computer screen to reality.
