Storage, storage and more storage; you can never have enough! Yankee Barn Homes is a master at creating floor plans that work both esthetically and functionally. Closet and storage space may not be one of the sexier items on your list of “must haves”, but it’s one of the most important. Many of us who love older architecture have experienced the storage frustration of living in an older home; basically there is little to none.
Storage will not be an issue when building your new Yankee Barn Home, but you do need to plan for it. The staff at YBH is the best in the business when it comes to creating floor plans that work. Along with the usual coat closet near the front entry and a mudroom (which may be combined with laundry), we have creative ideas for storage areas. Built-in cabinets and drawers are a great way to utilize unused space here and there, i.e. under a stair case, along a hallway wall or even encasing a window. One of the best uses of bedroom knee-wall space is placing built-in closets on either side of a central window (or vise versa – one closet between two windows) and putting a storage bench/window seat under the window(s).
You are certain to find interesting areas as you create your own plans with Yankee Barn Homes. There is rarely such a thing as completely unusable space. You just need to be open to the possibilities and keep in mind there is no such thing as “Too Much Storage”. Again, the staff at Yankee Barn Homes is wonderful at recommending and assisting you through this process. We have many floor plans and photos for you to use as inspiration. You may see them on our website here. Happy Planning!
