The title of YBH Go To Guru is definitely NOT a joke when it comes to Jennifer Hastings. Jennifer’s official job title is Customer Representative, but in actuality what she does is so much more! Coming up on her three-year anniversary with Yankee Barn, Jen is indispensable to both the customers and the staff. We fondly call her Jennifer Hastings, Trouble Shooter!
YBH: Tell Us a Bit About Yourself.
Jennifer: I live in Grantham with my husband of 18 years and our teenage daughter. We’re gearing up for college fairs and road trips. My husband actually grew up in Grantham. An opportunity to purchase his childhood home arose in 2005 and we jumped at it. Now we are in a state of constant renovations!
YBH: What Drew You to Yankee Barn Homes?
Jennifer: I started work at Yankee Barn Homes in October of 2011 after being introduced by a friend. There was an opening for a receptionist and I was looking to make a change after learning that Property and Casualty Insurance was not my calling! My responsibilities quickly grew to include marketing, website editing, purchasing, shipping, sales, etc. We are a small company. I love being able to help in multiple aspect of the business. I also enjoy the fact that because we are small, we take a team approach to each project. Everyone is involved helping to make the client’s experience an enjoyable one.
YBH: Explain your Job Process.
Jennifer: My primary role these days is sales. I am the first point of contact when someone inquires about YBH. Whether it be by phone, website or walk-in I help to answer their questions about our custom homes, the design process and costs to help them determine if a Yankee Barn Home is right for them.
YBH: What’s Coming Up On the Calendar?
Jennifer: We are excited to start planning events at our Grantham Lakehouse! We recently hosted a local meet and greet at the home. Townspeople had a chance to stop by, tour the house they’ve been watching go up, meet the staff and see what we’ve been up to. September 13, 2014 we will be hosting an Explore Yankee Barn Homes event at the lake house from 1-4PM. This is set up as a fact-finding day. An opportunity for folks to stop by, tour the home, speak with our design staff, bring sketches/plans, ask their questions and gather information.
We are also planning an Open House in October during peak Fall Foliage. You can get a sense for the look and feel of a YBH from our website and literature, but being able to physically walk through a home and experience the warmth of post and beam in person is much more fun and informative!
