“Who wouldn’t want a post and beam home on a lake in New Hampshire?” would be an apt way to begin this post. When you see this home, you’ll definitely be telling yourself, I want “this post and beam”. The home is comprised of a main barn building with an ell and a two car garage accessed by an attached porch/breezeway. Barn homes are not complicated; however, this does not mean they are not spectacular. I’ve seen this one in person, it’s a show-stopper!
The Post and Beam Exterior
As stated in the opening, the exterior of this house is uncomplicated; even simple. It’s amazing what can be done with simple structures when you have a team of creative people designing them. From the staff at Yankee Barn, to the homeowners, to the creative people they brought in to work on this home, everything clicked. For example, the hardscapes and softscapes around this home are perfect for a the basic straight lines of the home. Nothing fussy or overdone; the desired effect of the landscape was to to look as though the house grew up around them, instead of the other way around.
The Post and Beam Interior
The interior of the home is where the post and beam frame plays a staring role. Every room in this home is presided over by the beautiful timber frame. The homeowners chose warm colors in their accents pieces to compliment, not overpower, the structure. Everything works in harmony in this home, and none of it happened by accident; each piece was well thought out and planned.
In the past, this home has been available for serious Yankee Barn clients to tour. Should you be about to, or already speaking with Yankee Barn Homes about a build project, please inquire should you be interested in viewing this home.
