Barn home kitchen styles might conjure up thoughts of a rehabbed barn with unfinished beans and a country style kitchen in one corner of the open space. While this is one way to go, and many did so in the 1970’s, post and beam kitchens have come a long way since the ’70’s. At Yankee Barn Homes, we have seen some pretty phenomenal kitchens over the years. What you’ll see today are the more recent group of kitchens which have come along over the past 6 years. I’ve defined them only because they are easier to group, however, you’ll notice some of these kitchens could cross-over into other categories very easily. Doing so is pretty much The name of the game in current kitchen design. Enjoy!
Barn Home Kitchens: Contemporary
Contemporary White
- We’ve been flashing this kitchen around quite a bit lately as it is both new and gorgeous. Crown Point Cabinetry in their Farmhouse style, suits this space perfectly.
- Even a breakfast nook, off the kitchen pictured above, gets in on the all-white theme.
- A smaller Yankee Barn Homes kitchen wears the all-white look very nicely.
Contemporary Colors
- I love the blue in this contemporary Scandinavian style Yankee barn kitchen.
- In this retro Yankee Barn Homes kitchen, the color is used in the furniture and tile back splash.
- In a “Mod” style round contemporary kitchen, color is everywhere.

- This carriage house kitchen has an added French flare by way of the golden yellow Venetian plaster.
