And my carriage house got the cover of the July/August issue of Residential Design & Build magazine!!!

My daughters call me a bragger, but I swear to you I am not posting this entry to brag. I am just posting this announcement out of sheer excitement and I just have to share the news with the PostandBeamLiving.com readers.
In May, Yankee Barn Homes, who designed and built both my carriage house and tea house, submitted the two structures to Residential Design & Build Magazine for their 2010 Design Excellence Awards. Our carriage house won Best Detached Structure. See the award profile of my Yankee Barn carriage house on RD&B’s web site.

Our tea house won Best Outdoor Living. The judges were so amazingly complimentary of this structure. They called it “a gem” and said that it was the judges’ favorite structure “across all categories” this year! Read Residential Design & Build’s award profile of my Yankee Barn tea house.
My husband and I absolutely love our home. We put so much thought and effort into our building project. It is so wonderful and flattering that such accomplished design experts as the judges at Residential Design & Build magazine were impressed by our home. Thank you, Residential Design & Build! And thank you, Yankee Barn Homes, for submitting our carriage house and tea house into the contest. And finally, thank you to Shane Godfrey of Shane Godfrey Photography for taking such beautiful photographs.
Congratulations on the award! But in reading the write up I noticed it said that the carriage house has 478 square feet of finished space. Is that correct? The finished area of your carriage house looks far more spacious than that.

Good spot, Susan! It’s a typo. My carriage house is actually 1478 square-ft of livable space. The editors at RD&B have said they’ll fix the typo. Thanks for pointing it out!
