A Barn Style Home Rocks The French Provincial Style

I’m admittedly a fan of all things French so it won’t come as much of a surprise that the post & beam home featured here is one of my personal favorites. It’s actually two post & beam structures built at different times as the family and their home grew. No matter, the look of relaxed elegance that typifies  “French Provincial”  is found in every room of this home. From the colors and textures, to the wood finishes and period pieces, this home oozes Oo-la-la!!!

The bucolic farmhouse exterior belies the decor that waits inside.

Once inside your eye immediately travels to the tell-tale signs of French Provincial: the whitewashed walls, the unfinished antique posts & beams and the striking splashes of vibrantly rich colors that draw you in.

Notice the unique placement of the rural-theme artwork.

Every corner of this home carries the rustic yet refined elegance of French color and texture.

Post & Beam Breakfast Nook

I LOVE this breakfast nook! Notice the gorgeous French blue color used on the interior of the cabinets.

Standing in the  kitchen and dining areas you’d swear you were in the south of France!

Yankee Barn

What’s more French than a large painting of a goat over the kitchen sink?

There is something about this photograph I absolutely love; it definitely has to do with the chandelier.

The feast for the eyes does not end on the first floor; the upstairs bedrooms are a sight to behold.

French Style Post & Beam Bedroom

I could stay in this master bedroom all day long.

Again, the use of French Blue on the walls contrasted with the clean white ceiling and the beautiful antique beams says “French Provincial”.

Even the outdoor porch gets in on the act.

Nothing says “French” like a black and white awning stripe on the cushions of comfy outdoor furniture.

Now maybe you understand why this is absolutely one of my favorite homes in the French Provincial style!!

  1. I really like this. Shabby Chic is definitely a type of
Feng Shui, giving a peaceful, soft and feminine feel. A very beautiful way of decorating making people want to come
in and relax, this is why it can also be known as the cottage feel.
