What to do when you have a wonderful location, a beautiful site with a home you love and a well established business reputation but no available space for that home-based photography business?
Well, if you’re this New England home owner, you take inspiration from the barn architecture of the surrounding area, commit a few of your ideas to paper, then send them off to a post and beam company that specializes in constructing gorgeous houses and barns. Ultimately, you end up with one terrific looking barn addition to house your business and your commute to work is now measured in steps instead of miles.
This is the story of one such woman from Connecticut when she made the decision to combine her living and work space into one.

There is a similar story on this month’s Web Exclusives section of Maine Home + Design Magazine’s website. Maine Home + Design is one of my absolute favorite magazines! Click this link to read “Before the Barn”, an article about a Falmouth, Maine ranch being transformed into an “urban-loft-meets-country-barn”.
If you have your own barn transformation story, I want to feature you on Post and Beam Living! Email me or leave a comment and I’ll get in touch with you to talk about your story.
The owner was quite talented. She designed the structure herself and knew exactly what she wanted, right down to the exterior colors.
