Yankee Barn turns to ArchiCad “Virtual Building Model” Design System
Technical innovation has always been a hallmark of Yankee Barn Homes. For years we’ve used advanced Computer-Aided Design systems to plan our homes along with our homeowners. Once the planning process is complete, our CAD system generates the specifications used in the YBH shop to build our modules and components.

Now, with our new ArchiCAD Virtual Building Model system, instead of showing ‘flat’ drawings during the progress-plan phase, we can now present highly exact 3D perspectives which depict the home in great detail. We even have the ability to ‘slice through’ the home, to show interior details and construction. Here we see a full 3D rendering of a prospective home design, as well as a ‘doll’s house’ view of the interior floorplan.

More accurate and realistic plans for our homeowners, and a seamless flow of information from conceptual planning to the production floor ...two great benefits of Yankee Barn Home’s new ArchiCAD system.

Full-Color Renderings
In addition to detailed black and white 2d and 3d construction drawings, Yankee Barn’s new ArchiCAD Virtual Building Model system also lets us generate true photo-realistic renderings—‘sliced-through’ exteriors, interior designs including construction details, even true 3D drawings of the framing system. Highly accurate reflections and shadowing add to the realism of the renderings.
